CareOne donates $10,000 to Harmony Village at Stanwick Road Employee

Michael McGinn presenting Decontee Blanco and her daughters a check of $10,000

On May 10th, Harmony Village at Stanwick Road caregiver, Decontee Blanco’s 12-year-old son, Washington, went fishing in Sylvan Lake in Burlington Township and tragically drowned in the lake after falling in. Blanco has worked as a caregiver at Harmony Village in Moorestown since 2016, and staff wanted to do anything they could to help out the family.

Michael McGlinn, Marketing Director from Harmony Village at Stanwick Road and Decontee’s co-worker, knew he had to do something to help the family. He said “This whole idea of a Concert for a Cause began with a prayer I shared together with my co-worker and friend Amy, when she told me of Washington’ passing. That was the point of ignition!” McGinn wanted to hold the benefit concert at his church, Hope Community Church in Moorestown where he is the Worship Leader, and have all proceeds going to Decontee and her daughters.

The concert was held on June 24th, with 15 musicians performing spiritual and secular music as Mike provided MC for the event. McGlinn wanted to show Decontee and her family how much CareOne cares for their employees and their desire to help.

The Concert for a Cause raised $2,300 from the community and another $10,000 donated by CareOne. “After Tim Hodges (Chief Marketing Officer at CareOne) told me that CareOne was going to contribute $10,000 to the Decontee Concert, I reached out and called Decontee to tell her….she just wept. What that meant to her was simply beyond words.”

Executive Vice President Lizzy Straus stated “Helping those in need is the core value of CareOne. Decontee has done so much for our Stanwick Road residents, we knew we had to give back to her during this tragic time in her life.”
